The Advocacy & Community Engagement Facilitator plays a key role in supporting Council and the Executive management team in the development, design and implementation of a range of advocacy activities that are consistent with Council’s Plan and Council’s advocacy priorities.

 

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Coordinator Innovation & Advocacy, this position will work across the organisation to develop and implement advocacy action plans, facilitating evidence based advocacy responses and resources.  Areas of responsibility include:

  • Work with Council and Executive to develop and implement evidence based advocacy strategies and initiatives and provide support to internal units on key advocacy issues
  • Identify patterns, trends and opportunities that will influence the strategic direction of Council and provide recommendations to Council and Executive Team
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluations of plans and policies across Council
  • Provide high level consultation and a range of advocacy engagement practices and activities
  • Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships and networks

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • A proven successful record of community engagement, advocacy, evidence and contemporary communication
  • Thinking which responds to the needs and aspirations of the Mornington Peninsula community
  • Expertise in researching, planning and developing a range of advocacy and community engagement strategies, policies and programs
  • Advocacy, engagement and facilitation skills to develop partnerships with business, community and government agencies and support others to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Ability to incorporate and deal with sensitive and confidential internal and council issues
  • A good knowledge and skills in research methods, design, implementation and analysis

The successful candidate will:

·         Hold an Employee Working with Children Check (mandatory)

·         Be prepared to undertake an Australian Criminal History Check (mandatory)

·         Hold a current Drivers Licence (mandatory)
